After a young man decided to start off on an “California Adventure” by moving to California, the move ended pretty violently after he was injured on Pacific Beach Sidewalk on Mother’s Day. The injury ended up being fatal.
On Monday, the young man, Steven Kyle Wood was remembered. He was titled “Mr. Personality”. According to his mother, Tammi Holsomback, he was always the life of the party. He was also her only son.
Tammi’s comment about her son’s short lived adventure and death
He was my life. Really the only person I had to count on. I just want someone to realize what they’ve done.
Steven was twenty-six years old and had just moved to San Diego so he could surf and work. Sadly, on May 11 his life took a tragic turn. Steven and his roommate was walking home from a local Tavern around 2 o’clock in the morning. On their way home, someone snuck up behind Steven and then hit him in the back of his head. Steven then fought back and a crowd began to gather around.
The police say that Steven was later found in the street and was unconscious. The paramedics took him to a hospital to treat his head injuries. However, Steven never regained consciousness. He was then kept for two weeks in a medically induced coma. He spent his twenty-seventh birthday in the coma. He had severe bleeding of the brain and “other complications”. He later died from a stoke.
Tammi had to make a hard choice, when doctors were unable to help him anymore she had to make the choice to take him off of life support. She curled up beside her son and prayed for the strength to do the right thing for her son.
Tammi found strength through prayer
I prayed to Him all day long for Him to give me some kind of peace so I could tell him to go because, before that, I couldn’t.
Tammi doesn’t want another family to suffer like they have. She wants to find her sons murder. Since the homicide detectives have determined that the injuries were from the fight that cause his death, they are now investigating the fight as a murder.
If anyone has any information on this fight that happened on May 11th please help by calling the Homicide Unit at (619) 531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
