When a minivan ran a right light it ended up colliding with a Metro Blue Line Train. This happened in downtown Los Angeles. The accident left 12 people injured, two were in serious condition.
At ten that morning, shortly after the accident the paramedics arrived to the scene at 328 E. Washington Blvd. there were ten patients that were sent to the hospital in fair condition to be treated. However, two other people that were transported were in pretty serious condition. According to Katherine Main of the Los Angeles Fire Department, said that one other person declined medical treatment.
Paul Gonzales of the Metro said that the preliminary investigation showed that the Toyota Sienna was heading southbound on the Maple Avenue when the driver of the van ran the red light and that is when the minivan hit the train.
The driver of the minivan was one of the 12 injured. The other ten people were all injured on the train, according to Paul Gonzales.
The tracks were a little slowed down, the trains started “Single tracking” so the crews could work to clear the accident scene between Washington and Venice station. The cleaning up of the accident took almost an hour to get everything all cleaned up according to the Metro. The travelers that needed to go that way, were only delayed by about fifteen minutes.
