Fiery Crash In Orange County

A fiery crash is a scary incident. Sometimes miracles happen and people aren’t injured, however that isn’t always the case. Recently there was a fiery wreck and luckily two people were saved from the incident. A small plane crashed on a Friday morning on the 405 Freeway in Orange County. The plane clipped a pickup truck and then finally skidded to a stop against a median as it caught on fire.

The crash happened at the MacArthur Boulevard exit ramp. That is near the John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana. The wreck happened as the Cessna 310 was coming in for a landing. There were two passengers on the plane, a sixty-two year old man and his fifty-five year old wife when the plane caught fire. That must have been a terrifying experience for the couple.

According to the reports, the couple did suffer from “critical, traumatic injuries” but luckily they had good vitals when they were moved from the plane. Orange County Fire Capt. Larry Kurtz said that they had to go under surgery Friday night but were thankfully making progress on their recovery.

Korosh Torkzadeh’s Statement:

It was a very surreal moment. I didn’t really hear an impact. I thought the plane had actually made it to the airport, but then we saw it on the 405 Freeway.

Torkzadeh said that the response time for the authorities were almost instant.

The authorities were giving praise to a John Meffert who was an off duty fire captain that happened to be driving by the incident when the plane crashed. The 17 year veteran got out of his car and saved the two passengers by pulling them from the burning plane.

Kurtz Statement:

As the first responders arrived, the individual in question really did extraordinary work helping to get these individuals out of the aircraft. He was very calm, very relaxed. Obviously, he’s a professional.

According to the reports, the plane went down around 9:30 that morning. The pilot declared an emergency just shortly after taking off from the John Wayne Airport. The pilot was trying to return to the airport safely, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

Luckily the couple made it out safely thanks to the work of passerby people. This just goes to show, you never know what could happen. Always help if you can. Everyday life can turn scary or deadly in a matter of moments, if that was your life wouldn’t you want someone to help you?
