Two boys taking part in a family bicycling trip were injured when a car crashed onto a bike path in southern New Jersey.
Lakewood police tell the Asbury Park Press that the boys were riding with their mother and two other siblings when the accident occurred around 11 a.m. Sunday. Both were treated at hospitals for minor injuries and later released.
Authorities say the driver, a 32-year-old Lakewood man, told police he was test driving a vehicle when the brakes failed. He then attempted to jump from the vehicle, which ended up entering the bike path.
The motorist was cited for driving on a suspended license, and the car’s owner was cited for allowing an unlicensed person to operate their vehicle.
No other injuries were reported in the accident.
