Fatal Vehicle Crash
Vehicle accidents are always scary, you never know the outcome of a crash. Whether it was an accident, carelessness, or driving while under the influence, you’re always scared when you see one or are in an accident.
A stretch of the eastbound Pacific Coast Highway had been shut down for several hours on Saturday morning according to the local authorities. This was after a fatal crash happened very early that morning.
According to Officer Rod Loughridge from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the crash was a multi-vehicle collision and the incident happened at the PCK at Corral Canyon Road just after six, twenty on that Saturday morning.
According to the news release from the Sheriff’s Department, there was a full sized GMC Yukon pickup truck that was traveling eastbound on the highway and hit had hit a parked Honda Civic. The Honda had an adult male and female inside.
The man, who happened to be sitting in the driver’s seat sadly did not survive the crash. The woman who was also in the car, suffered from “unknown type” of injuries. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment. However, her condition was not immediately known.
After the driver of the pickup had hit the first parked car, they then went and hit another vehicle that was parked along the highway. A man and a young female were both inside of the second car, luckily neither of those occupants were injured. After the second crash, the Truck rolled over and landed on its roof. The driver somehow only managed to receive minor injuries. A SigAlert had to be issued since the eastbound lanes were expected to be closed for a while, according to the CHP (California Highway Patrol).
When the crash was first reported, the authorities originally thought the road closure would last around four hours, however after a little while, the Sheriff’s Department stated that the lanes would be closed for quite some time that day.
After six hours, the lanes were reopened just after twelve thirty that afternoon. The authorities are still investigating this crash.
Vehicle Crash Hit and Run Example
The police has now arrested a person who was in connection to a hit and run in Echo Park on Saturday morning. The driver had left two teenage skateboarders injured and one was in serious condition.
The news release from the Los Angeles Police Department stated that the teens, who were only thirteen and fifteen years old, were crossing Alvarado Street at Montrose Street, close to around ten o’clock on Friday night. That is when they were suddenly struck.
The police say that one of the boys might have tried to grab the other one to pull him out of the vehicles way before they were both sadly hit by the vehicle. A vehicle that didn’t even stop after they hit someone.
The fifteen year old teen, Christian Donis, is the one who suffered from the most severe injuries. He was later transported to an area hospital and was in critical condition. He was with his cousin, Adam Donis at the time. Adam luckily only sustained minor injures, but also had to be hospitalized.
Before the authorities were able to arrest the suspect, witnesses described the fleeing vehicle (which was last seen fleeing on Northbound Alvarado Street) as a white 2012-2014 Toyota Venza which is a compact SUV. According to LAPD, the description of the driver was not provided though. The police was able to guess that what ever type of SUV it might have been, would definitely have some front end damage to the right side of it.
The police did say that an arrest has been made in relation to this hit and run, however they did not provide much other information other than the arrest happened sometime before eight o’clock in the evening time.
Anyone with information about the incident was urged to call LAPD’s Central Traffic Division detectives at 213-833-3750 or the station’s watch commander at 213-833-3744.
Those who would like to leave information anonymously have been asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
Bicyclist Crash Example
According to the LAPD, a driver is now in custody after a bicyclist had been struck and killed by a car in the Mid-City area of Los Angeles. The incident happened late Thursday.
The collision happened on Fairfax Avenue just between Venice Boulevard and Sawyer street. The collision happened late, around 11;45 at night, according to a desk officer with the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Traffic Division.
Sadly, there was no hope for the bicyclist, as they were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The person’s name hasn’t been released at this time.
The LAPD desk officer did give a little insight on what might have happened, he said that an unidentified driver, that was possibly under the influence of a mixture of alcohol and drugs was later taken into custody. There was a video from the scene of the crash. The video showed there was a man being handcuffed by an officer. However, it wasn’t very clear if the man was actually arrested or not.
Not much else is known to the media about the collision. However, Fairfax had to be temporarily shut down between Venice and Saywer so that the LAPD Officers could investigate the crash.
