A dog bite can be pretty brutal. Unfortunately most dog bites are due to the fault of the owner, not the poor dog.
A twenty year old man had been mauled in the face by a dog, as he was busy working on raising money for an anti-drug abuse program. He was outside of an Eagle Rock sandwich shop. Now, his family is asking for help in finding the dog’s owners.
Ian Alli is the young man’s name. He had to be put in the hospital for his wounds.
According to reports, the incident happened on a Thursday evening, just outside of Jersey Mike’s at 2601 Colorado Blvd. near the Glendale border.
Ian’s father, Brian Alli, shared some pretty graphic photos of his son’s wounds on Facebook. He claims that the dog attacked his son, unprovoked. Ian is a dog lover who sadly had to end up in surgery.
Brian Alli’s Statement:
My son is now hospitalized and will need plastic surgery tonight and into the morning, The one thing we need is to get the word out and get the owner and the dog to help him by coming forward. They need to test the dog and obviously, get it off the street.
According to Ian, two women who were in their twenties had the unknown dog. However, another witness told the authorities that a man had the dog.
An Los Angeles Police Department Officer, Aareon Jefferson told the local news that a call had came in at 6:55 p.m. for a report of a dog bite. According to the call, the victim had been trying to get donations for the drug abuse prevention program called D.A.R.E. when the owner gave him a ten dollar donation and then left.
Around two hours later, the dog owner had returned. This time the owner had their dog with them, which just happened to be a pit bull. The dog was on a leash. Ian asked if the dog was friendly and the owner assented. Ian, being an animal lover knelt down to touch the dog and that is when the dog bit him in the face.
Brian Alli’s Statement:
They told him it was a pit bull mix that they got from a rescue shelter, and he said ‘Is it friendly?’ and they said, ‘Very friendly’.
According to Ian, who was still in a hospital bed when he was interviewed, that she had rubbed his hand twice and then the dog had lunged at him. That must have been terrifying.
A nearby witness who works as a lifeguard was able to help Ian during the attack. Ian’s father wishes he could thank the brave lifeguard who came to his son’s rescue.
Officers searched the area but couldn’t find the dog owner. Animal control services were quickly notified. According to Officer Jefferson, the family is waiting on the surveillance video.
Ian Alli had to be treated for his wounds at the Glendale Adventist Medical Center. According to his father, Ian suffered wounds to his face, lips, cheek and his teeth. He had to have plastic surgery to help the damage.
Brian Alli’s Statement About Ian’s Scars
Since he is just starting out in life with a Fiancee and new born baby, this will drain the little money they have saved. Plastic Surgery will be required for his lip. His face will most likely be scarred for life.
