Driver Suspected of DUI After Parking Mustang on Walkway
According to CNN, an suspected DUI driver has now been arrested after he had gotten his Ford Mustang stuck on the pedestrian walkway of the Golden Gate Bridge. Talk about craziness. That’s a pretty huge and high bridge, why in the world would this person want to chance that?
The driver of the Mustang was traveling southbound right before the morning rush hour traffic. That is when the car rammed over a steel barrier then through a steel gate before it finally came to rest on the sidewalk. According to the report, the vehicle made it about four hundred yards before the mustang got stuck. Probably better be glad he got stuck before he went over the edge.
Officer Andrew Barclay’s who is with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Stated:
The airbags were deployed in the vehicle so after he finally got far enough he came to a narrowing in the sidewalk where the vehicle became wedged.
The workers who work for the Golden Gate Bridge District had to discuss the numerous ways of trying to get the car out of the situation. They ended up using the “reach fork” technique.
Officer Barclay’s Statement about the Mustang Being Stuck:
I’ve personally never seen anything like this. I’d say this is…very uncommon.
I would say so. I doubt they get many vehicles stuck on the Golden Gate Bridge’s sidewalk. That would be so scary and ridiculous. I bet whoever this man is, is totally embarrassed and will think twice before DUI driving again.
According to a local news report, the twenty-two year old driver has been identified as Daniel Soto. He did suffer some minor injuries, but he was treated for those at a local hospital. The young man was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
