**DUI Driver Kills Passenger **
Friday’s are always a busy time for wrecks and traffic jams. I bet those poor emergency respond crews dread weekends. According to the authorities, a suspected DUI (Driving Under The Influence) driver had overturned a vehicle on the North Interstate 5 which is in the Solana Beach area on early Friday. The wreck ended up killing his passenger who was a forty-one year old.
DUI Driver Ends Up Killing Passenger
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Officer, Jim Bettencourt, the DUI driver was heading north on the I-5 North of Lomas Santa Fe. This was around two o’clock in the morning. While the drunken man was driving he suddenly veered his vehicle (Ford Explorer) to the right and went up an embankment. He also said that alcohol and drugs were a factor in this early Friday crash.
The DUI Driver, who is fifty-five year old, Robert Mark Slusarenko was arrested for the suspicion of driving under the influence as well as felony vehicular manslaughter on early Friday.
The passenger in the car who died, was known as a man from Delaware. He however has not been identified, other than he was killed in the crash.
Mr. Slusarenko had moderate injuries and had to be transported to the local hospital for treatment. However, after he was released from the hospital he was quickly booked into the Vista Jail.
As always, use caution while driving. Especially on Weekends and Mondays. It’s horrible that people can’t go out to have a good time without worrying some drunk driver is going to crash into them. When you get behind that wheel wasted, you’re not only risking your life but taking the chance of hurting whoever you hit. So, if you don’t care about your own life, think about other people’s lives.
