A Facebook Employee Dies After deadly Bicycle Collision

In November 2013 a member of the Facebook team was pretty severely injured in a bicycle crash. The accident happened when the mans bicycle had collided into a car at a busy Menlo Park Intersection and has now sadly died.

According tot he Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office, Thirty-Three year old, Sam Felder of the Menlo Park area has sadly died on April 11, 2014.

According to the website that has been set up by Sam’s friend and family, he died from complications that followed a recent surgery he had to replace his skull flap that was injured in the crash.

We are devastated by the loss. Many friends came to say goodbye and surround Sam with beautiful stories and memories.

The bicycle collision happened on November 18, 2013 at around 8:15 in the morning. It took place at the intersection of Marsh Road and Bayfront Expressway. A police investigator determined that Sam had ran a red traffic light as he pedaled East on Marsh Road. That is when he had struck a white Honda CR-V sedan as he was turning left onto Marsh Road. Sam was then taken to the Stanford Hospital. The driver of the Honda stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police investigators.

A friend and colleague of Sam’s said that he was a close friend to many people at Facebook and he was a “wonderfully devoted husband and Father to his wife and daughter.”
