Pit Bull Shot After Brutal Attack
Police report that two people were injured after being bit by two loose dogs in the Placentia Area. At around 5:30 Saturday morning Police Officers responded to an apartment complex on the 300 block of South Jefferson Street. The police discovered that two people had been bitten and sustained significant dog bite wounds.
The victims were taken to the local hospital and treated for their dog bite injuries. Police found the two dogs, which were described as pit bull type dogs, in the gated parking area of the apartment complex. The Officers set up a perimeter so they could hopefully keep the dogs away from the public, at least until the Officers from the Orange County Animal Care could arrive on scene.
According to the police, as they animal care officers were trying to capture one of the dogs, the dog had charged at the Placentia Officer. The Officer then fired at the dog with a shotgun, which he successfully hit. At first the dog retreated to a corner of the parking lot after it was shot. However, as soon as the officers tried to approach the dog to capture it, the dog again tried to attack the officers. Two of the officers then fired at the dog and ended up killing it.
The other pit bull like dog, was taken into custody to be held. This dog did not have any incidents with the animal care officers. No other dog bite victims have been found or reported as of yet. The owner of the dogs has yet to be found as well.
