Male Bicyclist Struck By Vehicle and In Critical Condition
According to the local authorities, a seventy-three year old had been hospitalized due to being in a grave condition on Saturday morning after he was struck by a vehicle as he was riding a bicycle on a street in Laguna Woods area.
According to the news release from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, the deputies had to respond to the scene around five:fifty-seven in the morning. They were called to Moulton Parkway which is near Santa Maria Avenue. The call came after a bicyclist that was heading southbound was struck by a 2006 model Honda Civic which was traveling in the same direction.
Driver Strikes Bicyclist Stays at Scene to Help
The news release also said that, according to the preliminary investigation as well as information that the driver provided, the crash happened near the number 3 lane on Moulton. The Sheriff’s Department said that the driver stopped and called 911. The driver also stay to render aid to the bicyclist victim until the deputies and paramedics arrived.
The injured bicyclist, who police originally thought was seventy-two years old, was then quickly transported to the hospital. The investigators do not believe that the driver was under the influence of any drugs or alcohol at the time of the incident. According to the release, all of the southbound lanes on a section of Moulton were closed off for around two hours so that the department’s Major Accident Reconstruction Team could come in and collect the evidence at the scene.
Crash Kills Bicyclist and Injures Another Person
On July 17th of 2014 a bicyclist was sadly killed. Another person was injured and said to be in critical condition after a traffic accident in the San Fernando Valley area on a Thursday afternoon, according to the police authorities.
According to Eric French from the Los Angeles Fire Department, the bicycle crash happened in the 7100 block of North Shoup Avenue which is near Sherman Way. The incident happened just before four o’clock in the evening. According to French, one person died and another one was in pretty critical condition. There was also a third person however they were assessed as not critical. The crash was described as a “two car traffic accident also involving a bicyclist.”
Description of the Two Vehicle and Bicyclist Crash
According to an officer from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division. The woman on the bicycle who died, was in her forties. She was riding her bicycle when she was tragically struck by a car. The officer also made it clear that this is not a hit and run case. At the scene, Lt. Warren Jones from the Valley Traffic Division said that the two vehicles had crashed in the intersection at Shoup Avenue and Sherman Way. Then one of the vehicles ran off the road and onto the sidewalk that is when the bicyclist was fatally struck. The traffic detectives were on the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
Shoup Avenue and Sherman Way were blocked off for quite a while. The aerial video showed that there was a body under a sheet on the sidewalk. There was also a damaged bicycle on it’s side next to the curb. There was also a sedan with damage up on the sidewalk, just twenty feet from the body and broken bicycle.
