Police Searching for Hit and Run Suspect
According to the police, a man that had to be in a wheelchair was sadly killed by a hit and run driver. The hit and run incident took place on a street in Fullerton. The victim’s death came just five months after he was struck in almost in the same location. Officers came to the scene at 2600 block of Orangethorpe Avenue. The avenue is just north of the 91 Freeway. According to Sgt. Jeff Stuart from the Fullerton Police Department, the caller had said that the crash happened at 11:58 on Monday night.
The victim was found in the middle of the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident. According to the authorities, the male victim was not marked in the crosswalk at the time of the incident. The police reported that the victims name is being withheld until they get confirmation from the local county coroner’s office.
On march third the male victim had been hit in almost the exact same location. According to the police news release, his blood-alcohol content during that incident was .36 which is 4.5 times the legal limit for motorists. According to California law, drivers are considered "legally impaired" when their blood-alcohol content is .08. According to the police, this wasn't the first time he had been drinking and hit by a vehicle. Back in 2008 he had been struck by a vehicle in Buena Park and had also been drinking at the time of that accident.
The Police Department said that on Monday night the driver had fled after the incident, westbound on Orangethorpe towards Magnolia Avenue. His fleeing made the incident a hit and run incident.
Unfortunately, whoever was driving the vehicle tonight made a poor decision by leaving the scene. We don’t know why they chose to do that. We understand that accidents do occur. We need to talk to them and find out what happened.

Witnesses told the police that the vehicle that fled the scene was a white or perhaps light colored SUV. They said it was possible that it was a Ford Explorer or Ford Expedition, or even a pickup truck with a topper/camper shell.
