Man Killed in New Year’s Day Hit and Run
According to the local police, a twenty-three year old man has been killed in the Newport Beach area. The young man died after being hit by a hit and run driver on New Year’s Day. Pretty sad way for a family to start the new year Hopefully police can find his murderer. It being New Years day, probably gives the police a good idea that whoever did this might have been under the influence.
The man was found lying in the road on East Coast Highway at Newport Coast Drive. He was found just before three o’clock in the morning by someone passing by. Luckily whoever spotted the man called the police, according to a news release from the Newport Beach Police Department.

The young man was found critically injured from being hit by the hit and run vehicle, according to the police. The man was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident. The twenty-three year old man was identified as, Travis Marton. He was from the Valencia are and identified by the Orange County Coroner’s Office.
Police say that just a short time after the incident, police from the Laguna Beach Department actually detained a fifty-six year old, Ronald Aviles.
Avilles is from the Sand Clemente area and was a current resident. He was arrested on suspicion of felony hit and run. He was booked at the Newport Beach Police facility. The police did state that they do not think alcohol was a factor in this incident. Which it was pretty early, maybe the guy just fell asleep or maybe he had a health relation issue.
Ronald was held on a bail of $50,000.
