Motorcycle Officer Injured in Crash
Being a police officer of any kind must be hard work, a motorcycle policeman is probably terrifying. You never know what’s going to happen.
According to recent reports, a Bell Gardens motorcycle officer was sadly injured during a two vehicle crash. This happened in the Montebello area.
A fire department dispatcher said that paramedics were dispatched to the scene at 7:07 in the morning. They were called to the area of Greenwood Avenue and Oakwood Street. One of the victims had to be sent to the local hospital.
The reports said that an officer was on a department motorcycle. There was another vehicle involved, a gray four door sedan. That gray sedan was pulling out of an alley and hit the officer. The officer flew over the car and landed on the street.
Motorcycle Crash in Bell Gardens
Bell Gardens police officials say that the injured officer was on his way to work when the crash happened. The officer was thankfully conscious and talking not long after the crash. Even though he seemed stable, reports say that his clothes had to be cut off of him before he was rushed to the local hospital.
The officer’s condition wasn’t known immediately. The Bell Gardens Police Department wouldn’t release the injured officer’s name or the extent of his injuries.
Authorities had to stop traffic in both directions of Greenwood, between Date and Sycamore streets.
Motorcycle Crash in Orange County
Not all Crashes have a scary, but happy ending. This particular motorcycle crash took the lives of a Buna man and woman. This happened in Orange County. According to the reports, twenty-five year old, Cory Menard died at the scene of the crash around 1:30 p.m. The wreck happened on SH 12. Twenty-four year old, Chelsea Miller also passed away that day, however she didn’t die until later that evening at a local hospital in Beaumont.
The investigators said that a pickup truck was driven by sixty-seven year old, Michael Meranda. The reports say that Michael had failed to yield at the right of way when he was making a turn onto SH 12 from Woodridge Dr.
The Yamaha motorcycle struck the truck on the left front panel of the truck. Both of the vehicles immediately caught fire on impact. Luckily for Meranda he was unhurt.
The crash is still being under investigation.
