Man Killed After Vehicle Incident
Crossing an interstate is very risky no matter what time of day. Early morning, rush hour, or after dark would probably be the riskiest.
Police officials say that a sixty-seven year old man was sadly killed after he was hit by a vehicle on Interstate 15 one morning.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Coroner’s Division was able to identify the victim as Keith Gary Richmond. Mr. Richmond sadly passed away after the incident. The incident happened at the southbound I-15 North of Highway 138 at 12:53 a.m.
The California Highway Patrol officials said that Mr. Richmond was walking in the southbound No.1 lane of the I-15, travelling south when the crash happened. Mr. Richmond was hit by a sixty-three year old Oak Hills man who was driving a 2001 Toyota Prius. The car was also travelling south in the No.1 lane.
CHP Statement About the Incident:
Due to [Richmond] walking in the No. 1 lane of I-15, the Toyota Prius collided into [him].
Mr. Richmond suffered very traumatic injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Luckily, there were no other injuries to be reported.
There was a SigAlert issued for the No.1,2, and 3 southbound I-15 lanes at 1:22 in the morning. This was so that the officials could safely investigate the scene. All lanes were reportedly open just after 3:30 in the morning.
According to the the investigation thus far, alcohol or drugs weren’t a factor in this crash. The situation is still under investigation at this time.
If anyone has any information they are asked to contact Officer M. Tovsen who is with the San Bernardino CHP Office. He can be reached at 909-383-257.
Pedestrian Accident Leads to Investigation
Being any emergency worker must be pretty daunting. You never know what kind of scene or how bad the scene is that you’re responding to.
According to reports, around 5:30 in the morning, the Santa Monica Police Department (SMPD) had to investigate a radio call for service that involved a traffic collision involving a pedestrian. This happened at the 300 block of the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH). When the officers arrived to the scene, they found a pedestrian in the roadway. The involved vehicle along with the driver were both luckily on scene when the officers arrived.
According to the reports, there was a second vehicle found on the PCH in Pacific Palisades.
Sadly, the pedestrian was already deceased before the officers arrived to the scene. Both drivers are cooperating with the investigation. At this time, there’s no reason to think that the driver was impaired at the time of the incident.
At this time the investigation is ongoing and the investigators are asking that if anyone has any information about this sad incident or if you were in the area at the time of the crash then please contact the lead investigator, Jason Olson. He can be reached at (310)458-8954. You can also speak with Sergeant Cortez at (310) 459-8713.
