Man Killed in SDG&E Hit and Run Accident
A man that was killed in a hit and run accident which involved a San Diego Gas & Electric employee who was driving a company utility truck. The family of the man that died plan to sue SDG&E over the accident. Fifty-four year old Robert Fisher was the victim in the hit and run accident with the SDG&E truck.
According to police authorities, Mr. Fisher was crossing the 200 block of Jamacha Road, South of East Main Street at around 10 o’ clock that evening. He was then struck by a Ford 550 truck and sadly died. The driver left Robert in the middle of the street then moments later a second, separate vehicle approached the street and accidentally ran over Robert again. However, the second driver stayed at the scene and called the authorities.
Police searched for the hit and run driver for several days, they searched for witnesses as well as evidence. The evidence led the investigators to an El Cajon address where the suspect was found along with the SDG&E utility truck which was seized. Police found out that the employee of SDG&E was not on the job when he struck Mr. Fisher. The victim was transient who frequented the El Cajon area.
Jared Bye talks about the hit and run
Why didn’t they come back, you know? They just left him for dead. I just want to see justice on this whole thing.
The family lawyer states:
If I were to hit anybody and flee the scene and the police knew that, I would be arrested. You would be arrested I just wonder myself why is it SDG&E’s employee is getting treated differently from what it seems most of us would be treated.
Both the police department and the SDG&E are currently conducting investigations. The company says that it can not release information about the driver due to personnel privacy rules. However, SDG&E say that they will continue to cooperate fully with authorities. They say that this is a tragic accident and the employee is no longer with their company. So far there is no word on an arrest as of right now on this hit and run accident.
