Definition of Slip and Fall

Slip and fall, also known as a trip and fall, is a personal injury claim or case based on a person slipping (or tripping) and falling. It is a tort.1

Tort is recognized as a “civil wrong” that unfairly “causes someone else to suffer loss or harm”. Which would result in whoever is responsible for the act a legal liability.

Although torts cause legal action, it’s not always known as a crime. A tort is a lesser offense that can be caused by someone’s negligence.

Legal injuries: are not limited to physical injuries and may include emotional, economic, or reputational injuries as well as violations of privacy, property, or constitutional rights. Torts comprise such varied topics as automobile accidents, false imprisonment, defamation, product liability, copyright infringement, and environmental pollution (toxic torts). While many torts are the result of negligence, tort law also recognizes intentional torts, where a person has intentionally acted in a way that harms another, and in a few cases (particularly for product liability in the United States) “strict liability” which allows recovery without the need to demonstrate negligence.

Bob Barker Has a Nasty Slip and Fall

Who doesn’t know and love Bob Barker? He’s been on American television since as long as I can remember. Bob Barker is somewhat of an American Icon, he’s hosted several television shows which include: End of the Rainbow, The Family Game, as well as Simon Says. He’s hosted Game Shows as well. Mainly known for his lovable hosting skills on “The Price Is Right” and Truth or Consequences.  In 2007 Barker finally retired. He’s received 19 Daytime Emmy Awards. Talk about an amazing life.

Sadly, he’s had to be hospitalized after he had a horrible slip and fall incident in the bathroom of his home in California.

According to reports, the incident caused the icon to slip and hit his head. Luckily, the ninety-three year old was able to call 911 after the incident. The medical responders rushed to his home. However, he didn’t want to ride in an ambulance so he had one of his staff drive him to the closest emergency room so that he could be checked out further.

Mr. Barker had to have a few tests done but luckily he was released pretty quickly. He’s said to be doing just fine however the fall was understandably pretty scary for him. This is the second time in a few years that he’s had to suffer with a scare like this.

Reportedly, Barker had a similar fall back in 2015. He also had to be rushed to the emergency room then too. In that particular fall he was simply going for a morning walk when he accidently tripped on the sidewalk just outside of his home. Luckily, there were already police officers in the area on another call and were able to get to him and preform first aid on the injured man.

Glad Mr. Barker is doing okay and has no visible scars on him. Hopefully he’s done enough scaring and he can enjoy a happy retirement.
