Several Crashes Happened in California Over the Weekend
Friday, it’s usually the time for people to work hard and rush home. You’ve had a long, exhausting week and the last thing you want to do is fight rush hour traffic on your way home from that long work week. Sunday Afternoon Crash
Sunday, most people are traveling. Whether it be home from a vacation or if you have to travel to go to work. Either way, Sunday’s are a calm but lot of traffic days.
the first crash I’m going to talk about is a tanker truck crash. It crashed and then erupted into flames on Sunday afternoon. The crash ended up shutting down the 710 Freeway in both directions in the Bell area.
According to the reports, the tanker truck crashed just south of the Atlantic Boulevard around three, thirty in the late afternoon. The incident happened between Slauson Avenue and Bandini Boulevard. The tanker truck was carrying 8,500 gallons of fuel in two tanks. Only one of the tanks burst into flames. According to the reports, you could see the smoke from the flames for miles.
Luckily the Los Angeles County Fire officials, have said that there were no injuries in this, potential deadly crash. The Firefighters were able to use foam to put out the flames.
The California Highway Patrol Officers, were able to move some of the traffic to southbound lanes. California Highway Patrol guessed that the southbound lanes would be closed for almost eight hours though.
Second Crash Of the Weekend
The friday night crash. This one deals with a twenty-nine year old man who was arrested for allegedly fatally hitting a woman with his car and then fleeing the scene. Which, is quite sad and even sadder quite common now days.
Ontario man, Christopher Acosta allegedly struck thirty-year-old Lindsey Ann Prieto as she was crossing the street. She was struck near the Garey Avenue and Rio Rancho road. The incident happened around eight, thirty on Friday night near Pomona.
Mr. Acosta is accused of driving off, sadly Prieto died at the scene of the crash.
Witnesses were able to describe the escape vehicle to the 911 operators. The information from the witnesses send the officers to Acosta’s home. They did find the alleged car and then arrested Acosta.
Mr. Acosta was booked on suspicion of a felony hit and run causing injury or death.
